These are extraordinary times and as the situation with Coronavirus (Covid-19) develops, we all need to be thinking of ways to keep ourselves and our families safe.
It is essential that we all stay safe in these trying times. It is the companies intention to carry out all effective measures to minimize the risk to everyone while dealing with customers and carrying out work in your home or place of work. We will follow any current government safety guidelines while working in other peoples homes and notify all clients in advance of arrival. Before entering your home or premises we will carry out hand washing and wear personal protective equipment if necessary and maintain physical distancing.
There are situations where the risk is lower such as attending empty rental properties and visiting regular clients that have previously left us unattended by way of leaving a key with a neighbour, or in a safe place. However if you are at home, you can stay in a separate room while the work is being carried out.
If you show symptoms.
If you have booked work and then find you are showing any suspected symptoms before work is carried out, do not hesitate to get in touch to cancel or postpone the appointment, even if it’s on the same day. Do not worry and you will not be charged for any cancellation fees.
To minimize the risk we will observe the following.
- Cancel or postpone the appointment if we show coronavirus symptoms, however mild.
- Once the work is completed advise on which surfaces have been used or clean them before leaving.
- Avoid working in the presence of vulnerable people – people at risk or people who are isolating.
- Wear protective personal equipment where necessary including gloves.
- Before coming to your home, cleaning of van surfaces and hand washing is carried out.
Discussing your individual needs
When phoning to arrange work, you are very welcome to tell us of any special requirements or concerns you may have about working in your home.
Preparing for re-opening during the Covid-19 crisis.
During these unprecedented and uncertain times I am carrying out some work on on commercial premises. Some companies have either shut down or the workforce are working from home. It’s an ideal time while these businesses are not operating to look forward to better times and have some cleaning work carried out.
At Premier Estates in Macclesfield I have around 100 office chairs to clean and many thousands of square feet of carpets to clean while the staff are lucky enough to be able to work from home. It’s a large office building and a huge job!
Meanwhile Knutsford Dry cleaners will be opening June the 1st and I’ve just freshly cleaned the carpets ready for re-opening.

What else is happening?
Well there is certainly a downturn in work, but despite that I seem to be having more upholstery cleaning to do around Cheshire while taking care with physical distancing and cleaning measures. This suite in Knutsford required cleaning as it was 15 years old and had never been cleaned before. Most suites take around 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours to clean. This suite however had removable covers and as can be seen, also had a skirt around the bottom. It was also made from pure heavy cotton which takes a little longer to clean, so it took from 10am to around 3.30 in the afternoon due to the large surface area and the extra detail on the upholstery.
There was also a lovely view of the countryside and large Oak trees from the patio doors!
Purchase of new carpet cleaning machine the Airflex Storm from Cleansmart Cleaning Supplies.
I have been dealing with Cleansmart for nearly 15 years and took the opportunity to purchase their latest top-of-the-range flagship extractor machine. One of the most powerful carpet cleaning machines on the market, the Airflex Storm is fitted with an extremely powerful heavy duty vacuum motor system and a powerful 800 PSI solution pump. The Airflex Storm’s immense power copes easily with long hose runs and can be run at a distance of 200 feet reaching up into into multiple story buildings.

I successfully acquired a new client that require all the commercial office carpets cleaned. Initially some quite bad stains required removal on the first visit. This is a very large job that takes 2 days working over the weekend while there are not many staff around. These carpets will require cleaning every 6 to 12 months due to the high traffic and keep them in clean and presentable condition.
